A re-elected Albanese Labor Government will back the Toowoomba Regional Council’s plans for the Black Gully Linear Reserve and Captain Cook Reserve Project, making a major upgrade to the corridor a reality.
The Labor Candidate for Groom, Richard Edwards, welcomed Senator for Queensland, Anthony Chisholm to the site to make the $1.8 million election commitment.
The funding will help deliver upgraded amenities such as play areas, picnic facilities, lighting and active transport pathways.
Upgrades to the Black Gully Linear Corridor section will also include a new fenced off-leash dog area.
Toowoomba Regional Council completed a business case and masterplan for the project in 2024.
Consistent with past practice, election commitments will be delivered in line with Commonwealth Grants Rules and Principles.
